| Sable is the classic hair for
a watercolour brush with marvellous attributes that make
it a joy to paint with, fine spring, excellent water-holding
capacity and impeccable pointing. Generally thought of
as a watercolour brush sable is also useful for softer
parts of oil paintings. We have long handled sables intended
for oil paint. |

From Pro Arte, these are very attractive artists’ watercolour
brushes at a price extremely reasonable for sable. They have
short dark green handles, gold plated ferrules and come in sizes
000-16. Excellent spring and point and holds plenty of water.
Washed well after use with soap and water, sable brushes last
and keep their points for years. |

ARTE CONNOISSEUR BRUSHES |

Connoisseur is the name given by Pro Arte to a blend of Prolene
and sable which they have perfected to combine the best qualities
of the two. It feels and looks like sable, it bellies, holds
colour and points well but in addition it is very hardwearing
and much cheaper than pure sable. We stock Series 100 which
is a round and Series 99 a one stroke. |

VINCI RED SABLE BRUSHES FOR OIL PAINTING |
From Da Vinci these lovely brushes do perfectly the job I have
always spoiled my sable watercolour brushes to do. A sable enables
you to lightly sketch thinned oil paint on to a canvas. They
also enable you to smooth away edges of paint. Available in
rounds or flats these have long handles nice for easel work.
Sable watercolour brushes can, of course, be used instead but,
once you have started using them for oil paint they are spoiled
for watercolour. They are available in rounds for detail painting,
brights for area work and filberts. |

VINCI BLACK SABLE BRUSHES FOR OIL PAINTING |
These long handled sables are intended specifically for use
as oil painting brushes. Black sable has a good basic spring
and can hold a fine point. These are good thick brushes in rounds,
filberts and flats which we keep up to a size 30, quite a brush!
